A new adventure begins as we raise awareness and money for the great apes
On October 20th 2016 we will be starting our climb up Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania to raise money for the great apes. Our group will be made up of Jacha and Gwyn, Sue our cook and manager, Jacha’s assistant Kate, Gerallt from Tan Lan Metalworks who works with Jacha to create artwork from metal and two special guests from Cameroon, Rachel and Larry from Ape Action Africa, which just also happens to be one of the charities we will be raising money for by doing this climb, the other charity being Orangutan Appeal UK, of which Jacha is an ambassador.
To start off our training for Kilimanjaro, on Sunday 24th April Jacha, Gwyn, Kate, Sue, Gerallt and our mascot Skollie joined 125 other people to climb Snowdon to remember the people who died in the Nepal earthquake a year ago to the day.

It was a hard climb but the weather was kind to us and we all made it to the summit in one piece feeling very proud of ourselves! The event was organised by Alex Staniforth a 20 year from Cheshire was has travelled to Mount Everest twice but unfortunately been caught up in two of the worst natural disasters in Everest history, the avalanche in 2014 and then the huge earthquake in 2015. Alex decided to organise the Climb Snowdon event to raise money for the families effected by the earthquake, a fantastic £14,000 has been raised by this event so far!!
Everyone was a bit stiff for a couple of days afterwards but are now keen to keep training!
