Adventures into Ceramics
After a wave of new inspiration, Jacha has decided to try a new venture. While he has focused mostly on painting and photography for the last few years, inspiration struck recently and Jacha began using 3d media to make his conservation artworks. Starting with some more simplistic shapes to test firing times and new glazes, the ball started gradually rolling into larger and more elaborate and intricate pieces.
Taking inspiration from Claire Curneen, Ardmore Ceramics and more naive forms such as forms of traditional African pottery and ancient zoomorphic forms displayed in museums, Jacha creates a large variety of artworks, from decorated plates to stoneware human forms with crowns of leaves and birds, to animal figures such as seals, tapirs and primates.
Some of these new ceramics are on display in Oriel Ospie, where a large number have sold already to keen collectors, wildlife enthusiasts, and in one case - a sustainable and eco conscious yoga studio! Jacha’s inspiration and passion for ceramics is boundless, with constant production of pieces appearing in the gallery- make sure you check them out before they get picked up!
