With the help of our wonderful customers, we have raised a record-breaking amount in 2024 for our chosen charities!

Through the businesses on Betws Railway Platform, we have raised a phenomenal amount for Ape Action Africa and Orangutan Appeal UK. Our final year total has been split equally between the two, with updates promised by both of the charities to tell us exactly where the raised money has gone.

Who do we support?

As visitors are probably aware, throughout the year we raise awareness and funds for two fantastic charities. Then at the end of the year we count it all up and make our charity donation. The two charities we support are: Ape Action Africa and Orangutan Appeal UK.

How do we fundraise for our chosen charities?

For each pizza we sell at Hangin’ Pizzeria we donate a portion of the money to our charities. Money is also collected from the Alpine Coffee Shop and the fountains, cash boxes and donation stations all around the platform. A portion of the sales from Platform Galeri also add to the total amount that we donate, including artwork sales, clothing, soft toys, gifts and a portion from each of our vendors at the Platform Galeri Pop-Up Shop.

How much did we raise this year?

With your help, we have raised the incredible total of £77,919 (a whole £18,849.09 more than 2023). It has been our best year yet. We want to wish all of our customers a huge thank you for your support. Without you, this wouldn’t be possible. We’d also like to extend this thank you to our amazing staff, friends and family, who work incredibly hard to keep the businesses running smoothly.

How does the money help?

The money we donate will make a real difference to both charities. It costs an incredible amount to keep Ape Action Africa’s sanctuary in Cameroon running each month. The money we donate will help with feeding the animals and the upkeep of the sanctuary.

Orangutan Appeal UK use donations for various projects that conserve and protect the critically endangered orangutan from extinction.
