Jacha visited a school in Sale, Manchester to talk about Orangutans
On July 3rd 2017 Jacha and Kate visited Woodheys Primary School in Sale. Jacha, as ambassador for Orangutan Appeal UK spoke to the children in their morning assembly about Orangutans, the fight they face for survival and the work OAUK and its founder Sue Sheward MBE are doing to help them. Orietta Lorenzini, a parent of 2 pupils at Woodheys had invited Jacha to speak to the children after her sons Dante and Milo approached her about doing something to help their favourite animals – Orangutans and Pandas. At the end of the talk Jacha launched an art competition, asking the children to create artwork of either Orangutans or Pandas, he then held an art workshop in the school’s Zen Garden creating an Orangutan sculpture made out of recycled material collected by the children. Jacha and Kate returned to Woodheys on July 7th for their summer fair to judge the artwork and present the winners with their prizes. Please watch this short video we have created about the school visit, the soundtrack is the children of Woodheys welcoming Jacha and Kate to the school.
If you are a teacher and would like Jacha to visit your school or you know a school that would like a visit please do get in touch with Kate at the Platform Galeri for more information.
